Are you looking for a trip which enables you to serve the local community and immerse yourself in the vibrant overseas culture at the same time? If yes, University & College YMCA is offering you a good option – Joint-U Germany Service & Cultural Tour 2024!

Not only will you be able to volunteer and share Chinese culture with locals at the Sino-German Summer Academy at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria, you can also help in the Ukraine refugee work in Nuremburg and meet friends from all over the world through the International Y-Camp in Waging am See.

Eligibility
Full-time students aged 18-25 with valid University & College YMCA membership^

Programme Timeline (Please reserve all the stated dates below.)

• Informing short-listed candidates for interview: by 22 March (Fri)
• Interview^: 27 or 28 March (Wed or Thu) Afternoon or Night @ Mong Kok
• Releasing interview results: by 5 April (Fri)
• Preparation meetings (Wednesday nights): 17 April, 5 June, 19 June, 10 July - Ice-breaking sessions, Preparing for workshops and services in Germany, Rehearsals for performances, etc.
• Local children/family service @ Uni-Y Mass Event: 1 July (Mon) 
• Pre-departure meeting: 22 July (Mon)
• Trip to Germany: 27 July - 16 August (tentative)
• 1st Post-trip meeting: 21 August (other mtg to be discussed in the first preparation meeting)
• Post-trip Activity: before October 2024

^ONLY shortlisted candidates will be invited for attending the interview.

Programme Content

• 27 July - 2 August: Sino-German Summer Academy (Wernfels, Bavaria)
  Joining the "Sino-German Summer Academy" at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria to have cultural activities for learning German and Chinese and to explore the castle and its surroundings.
• 2-9 August: Voluntary Service (Nuremburg, Bavaria) 
  Participants will help in the refugee support work and/or children & youth service. You will be given time to explore Nuremburg in this week.
• 9-16 August: International Y-Camp (Waging am See, Bavaria)
  Meeting young people from all over the world and gathering at the Y-Camp for cultural exchanges to have fun!

Programme Fee
$20,000# + Deposit $1,000*
- Programme fee includes flight tickets, accommodation, partial meals, transportation and programme activities with YMCA subsidy

*Refundable deposit upon the full attendance of all pre-trip and post-trip activities with satisfactory performance throughout the programme; and completion of the requirements of the "YMCA Global Citizenship Award Scheme" Gold Award. University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision for any disputes.

#Participant who receives the "YMCA Global Citizenship Award Scheme" Gold Award will be given $1,000 subsidy.
