Under-stairs shops are small spaces for displaying goods, inventory and trading functions. Most of the under-stairs shops are for watch repairs or selling audio tapes/CDs. However, due to rapid urban development, many of the shops have been closed down. Through this exploration programme, we would like to record the remaining under-stairs shops before their extinction.
Project objectives:
1)Record the stories of the under-stairs shops by designing a community map and a city hunt programme
2)Promote under-stairs shops culture through organising a city hunt programme and to reflect the relationship between urban development and heritage conservation
