Global Y Virtual Volunteer Exchange Programme 2021

The global pandemic thread of COVID-19 casts many uncertainties on outbound travel. The Programme has been restructured into a virtual volunteer exchange programme in 2021. Young people could continuously cooperate with overseas youth volunteers to provide service programmes and organise cultural exchange activities for overseas youths and children via online means, thus gaining a fruitful and meaningful experience during summer. 

Goals of the Programme

• To increase students’ social service experiences
• To allow students to develop their leadership skills, communication skills, and sense of responsibility; and to explore their unique potentials;
• To enrich students’ global outlook and build friendship with overseas youths
• To provide a platform that engages students in valuable cultural exchange activities 

Programme Period

Promotion and recruitment: Early April

Volunteers Training: 29 May

Preparatory Meetings: June

Online Services and Cultural Night: July to August

Details

During the service sessions, participants introduce the unique characteristics of Hong Kong to overseas youths and children via games. The cultural night provides a platform for youths and children from different places to share their local cultures to enhance mutual understanding.
