Are you looking for a trip which enables you to serve the local community and immerse yourself in the vibrant overseas culture at the same time? If yes, University & College YMCA is offering you a good option – Joint-U Germany Service & Cultural Tour 2023!  

Not only will you be able to volunteer and share Chinese culture with locals at the Sino-German Summer Academy at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria, you can also help in the Ukraine refugee work in Nuremberg and meet friends from all over the world through the International Y-Camp in Waging am See. More details are as follows: 

Eligibility
Full-time students aged 18-25 with valid University & College YMCA membership^

Programme Timeline (Please reserve all the stated dates below.)

• Informing short-listed candidates for interview: by 1 April (Sat)
• Interview: 11 April (Tue) Afternoon or Night @ Mong Kok
• Releasing interview results: by 13 April (Thu)
• Preparation Meetings (Friday nights): 21 April, 9 June, 23 June - Ice-breaking sessions, Preparing for workshops and services in Germany, Rehearsals for performances, etc.
• University & College YMCA International Youth Conference: 21-24 July (Fri-Mon) - Joining as participants to interact and mingle with overseas youth on the topic of "Inspire2gether: Community Wellbeing in the Post-pandemic Era"
• Trip to Germany: 28 July - 18 August (tentative)
• Post-trip Meeting: before 31 August (to be discussed in the first preparation meeting)
• Post-trip Activity: before October 2023

Programme Content

• 28 July - 4 August: Sino-German Summer Academy (Wernfels, Bavaria)
  Joining the "Sino-German Summer Academy" at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria to have cultural activities for learning German and Chinese and to explore the castle and its surroundings.
• 4-11 August: Ukraine Refugee Work (Nuremberg, Bavaria)
  Participants will be helping with the Ukraine refugee work of the YMCAs in Germany, Ukraine and partnering YMCAs/organisations. You will be given time to explore Nuremberg in this week.
• 11-18 August: International Y-Camp (Waging am See, Bavaria)
  Meeting young people from all over the world and gathering at the Y-Camp for cultural exchanges to have fun!

Programme Fee
$19,000 + Deposit $1,000*
*Refundable deposit upon the full attendance of all pre-trip and post-trip activities with satisfactory performance throughout the programme. University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision for any disputes.
- Programme fee includes flight tickets, meals, accommodation, transportation and programme activities with YMCA subsidy
